THE STAFF AT EPIC
Dr. Laura
schumacher, dvm
Dr. Laura Schumacher discovered her passion for veterinary medicine after adopting — and completely falling in love with — two cats while in graduate school. What began as a personal connection quickly grew into a professional calling centered on advancing patient care and strengthening the human–animal bond.
Dr. Schumacher earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She then completed a rigorous year-long internship at Avets Specialty & Emergency Trauma Center, where she received advanced training in emergency and critical care medicine. Since that time, she has worked in both general practice and emergency settings, allowing her to develop a well-rounded clinical skill set and a thoughtful, adaptable approach to patient care.
She is particularly passionate about applying the most current, evidence-based medical recommendations to ensure pets receive the highest standard of care. Dr. Schumacher values clear communication and collaborative decision-making, helping families feel informed and supported throughout their pet’s treatment.
Dr. Schumacher enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, who is also a veterinarian, and their daughter, Finley. They share their home with Zorro, a beloved cat. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys knitting and spending time outdoors with her family.
